The office of Churchwarden is an ancient one, dating from the early middle ages. As officers of the bishop and members of the Parochial Church Council, Churchwardens are charged with co-operating with the clergy and leading the laity in promoting the mission and ministry of the church in the local parish.
The churchwardens are elected by the people of Oadby every year at the Annual Meeting of Parishioners in April or May
Don Smith and Martin Ward were elected as churchwardens for St Peter’s this year and sworn in by the Archdeacon. They can be contacted through the Parish Office by email or on 0116 2720080
Churchwarden duties are shared by the Assistant Wardens, Philip Coomes, Angela Pitches and David Witt.
